“How are things?”
“Oh, you know, just bumbling along”
This is my usual answer to any one who asks, just taking each day as it comes, wondering which toddler is going to throw a steaming tantrum today because I said no to watching Peppa pig (over and over!) again, how many changes of clothes we will go through because the liquid in their bottle looks sooooo much better on their sibling or how many different foods I have to make because “ that’s dit-custing”.
Parenting is hard. Fact. And it is very easy to slip into thoughts of self-doubt, not reaching your own high expectations, and feelings of “when will this phase ever end??!!”
I gave birth to my second child when my eldest was a mere 10 months old, this on its own would be hard enough for most people but I was already suffering from postnatal depression and the next year was pretty tough.
“I need a hobby!” I told myself , and google told me (so it must be true!) to write a blog.
So I did.
Postnatal depression is no laughing matter but I believe that looking at situations in a different light, realising that you’re not alone, and having a damn good giggle about some of the things that come along with parenting can definitely help.
So I hope you can find some kind of reassurance by reading my blogs, whether postnatal depression is involved or not, there are lots of ups and downs in the parenting world, we are all learning, coping in our own ways or just bumbling along….
